우리나라 기업의 R&D 아웃소싱 결정요인 = Determinants of R&D Outsourcing: Evidence from Korean Firms

This study identifies the determinants of R&D outsourcing in Korean firms. For empirical analyses, we used the "Survey of Business Activities", a firm-level panel data set surveyed by Statistics Korea between 2006 and 2008. Unlike the previous studies on R&D outsourcing, we included in the analyses the firms in the service industry in addition to those in the manufacturing industry, and presented the comparative results. The major findings of this study can be summarized as follows: Panel Logit analyses revealed that outsourcing experience, number of patents per capita, use of e-business system, and market share and size of firm are positively related to R&D outsourcing in the manufacturing and service industries as well as the total industry. Furthermore, the firms located in Seoul are more likely to outsource R&D than those located in other areas.
