Abstract
Women in Kendal District are productive human resource potential but it has not realized and has not developed, It can be seen that Kendal District is the second largest district in Central Java in the delivery of women migrant workers abroad. The potential for natural resources in Kendal is an asset that is relied upon by the people as their main livelihood, but this potential has not been used optimally. Therefore to maximize the potential and ability of woman’s economic, home industry can be an effort to empower women. Thus it is necessary an effort to increase revenue and economic levels of society in Kendal district especially women and housewives are based on local resources so as to improve the welfare of the family. This research aims to; (1) to determine the factors that influence the development of home industry. (2) to determine the most significant factor affecting the development of the home industry in supporting of women's empowerment. (3) to find out what are the efforts for the development of industry in supporting the women empowerment in Kendal District.
The collection of data obtained from the primary data and secondary data. Primary Data were Obtained Directly from survey and field observation. The survey is defined as a method to collect primary data based on interviews and direct observation with 100 respondents in 17 sub district through questionnaire. The Secondary data obtained from the data were published or used by organization, publication, website and other related institution. Determination of the sample using purposive sampling method, sampling technique to adjust the criteria or specific objectives based on questionnaires. Analysis of the data to determine what factors that influence the development of home industry is using binary logistic regression analysis, and to obtain a factor significant that most influence the development of home industry in supporting of women's empowerment by using analysis of dominant, and to find out any efforts for the development of the home industry in supporting women empowerment used descriptive analysis method. Based on the results of a binary logistic regression analysis with significance level α = 0.1 variables marketing, technology, education, and capital are the variables influencing the development of home industries in order to support women empowerment in Kendal District. Based on the analysis dominant the variables of technology has the highest interest rate or the most dominating than the other variable, followed by marketing variable, education variable, capital variable. Based on the business fields the featured products of home industry in Kendal District is a food and beverage products that utilize from local resources in Kendal District.
Furthermore, the efforts that should be made by the government in order to develop the home industry in supporting women empowerment in Kendal District can be seen from several aspects such as, technology, marketing, educational, and capital. From these aspects is translated into a framework that aims to identify potential problems and give solution for women to face in running home industry in Kendal District. If the four aspect as mentioned were synergically worked, presumably the improvement of home industry in supporting woman empowerment in Kendal district could be achieve, therefore, these woman roled in home industry would be able to improve their family incomes
