      The elite rice cultivar, Suweon365, shows high level of leaf blast resistance. The number and chromosomal locations of genes conferring the resistance were detected by linkage analysis using DNA markers in the RILs from the cross between Suweon365 and Chucheongbyeo. Partial resistance to leaf blast was assessed in upland blast nursery in three regions for QTL analysis. Resistance to two isolates was measured by the number and size of susceptible lesion, and diseased leaf area (% DLA). Eleven QTLs to blast in nursery test at three regions and eleven and eight QTLs to the number and size of susceptible lesion, and DLA to isolates 90-054 and 91-016 were detected, respectively. A total of eighteen QTLs were identified on the regions of major genes, Pib, Pi18, and Pi25(t) in Suweon365. Most of them were acted as major QTLs explaining over 10% of phenotypic variation. A QTL responsible for field blast resistance was detected at the same location as that of upland rice on chromosome 4.
