      Under the post-cold war and breakout of ideology, it is definite that Korea must not merely get over national division but also accomplish national unity based on the unification of South and North Korea. This is the most important task to be solved for both South and North Korea. Korean young generation is now at the very center of requirement of unification vitally.
      It is to be overcome the mistake of the national division, influenced by outside forces, by not special classes or outside forces but the public. For this, it is necessary to understand the reality of division dispassionately and teach ideology momentously.
      The study presented on this thesis aims to show the effective teaching way using “Jang-ma”(장마) written by Yoon Heung-Gil as a way to teach about national unification. It can be useful to teach students since they are familiar with novels. It will suggest an educational foothold to solve one of the tantalizing problems of national division through learner based model.
      Yoon Heung-Gil is one of the distinguished writers in 1970s. His novels have studied actively focused on both as a work and as its writer. However the learner based plan using his novel on the subject of national division has not studied concretely.
      Therefore this paper provided the characteristic of “Jang-ma”
      (장마) as the novel on the subject of national division through cooperative learning. Also it was focused on internalization of desire for unification. In addition, it was considered the perception of national division and it was suggested the realization of the foundation achieving unification through education using novels.
      In part 2, it was shown that how the division novels including “Jang-ma”(장마) have defined and developed. Also it was discussed their educational value.
      In part 3, the text of “Jang-ma”(장마) was analyzed to present the background let it classify as a division novel.
      In part 4, under the heading 'a desirable teaching method using division novels in the 7th educational curriculum', it was suggested a literary theory of unification, a desirable teaching method, concrete teaching method using learner based jigsaw 2 model presented in the 7th educational curriculum.
      In conclusion, the most important thing is that it has to be premised a method based on learners in education using novels in any subjects. In addition to that the leaner based teaching method is valuable wherefore the subject is the present learners to overcome national division. It is expected that this study is valuable to correspond to the ultimate educational aim using novels. Also it is to be desired that the learners consider not only national division but also all the other materials for the field of their life and behave spontaneously.
