To summarize tennessee Williams' works there were two features in his writings: one of which was the social problems in the Southern area, the other which is the creation of various personalities of the female characteristics. The female personalities he portrayed were usually sacrificial women with uncontrollable power. Williams' highlight of his autobiographical element shows most in the Glass Menagerie; there is no element of sexuality but this play is the most important work for the research of mother-daughter bonding and understanding of his other plays. In this play, Williams tried to describe the female psychological aspects represented in the pursuit of women's identity through the theme of mother-daughter bonding and psychological description of female characters. In order to understand the women's identity in Williams' plays, the 'mother and daughter' relationship, in which 'Amanda and Laura' shows the various is self righteous and is the symbol of a human being in the foundation process of women's identity.
