문화 지능과 성격, 문화 경험의 관계 탐색: 해외 유학생 표본을 중심으로 = The Relationship Between Cultural Intelligence with Experiences and Personality: Among Korean Students Studying Abroad

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

This study was conducted to revalidate CQS and to examine the factors influencing cultural intelligence among Korean students studying abroad. 143 Korean students in USA and Canada were participated in the survey. Confirmatory factor analysis identified a model with four factors and CQS has negative correlation with acculturation stress and academic stress but positive correlation with subjective wellbeing. This findings suggest that CQS is a reliable and valid scale. Hierarchical regression analyses confirmed that personality is more significant predictor than cultural experiences for CQS. Discussion focuses on the importance of the findings, limitations and future directions.

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구에서는 인류 사회의 연결성 증가와 각국 공동체의 다문화성 증가에 따라 그 중요성이 부각되고 있는 문화 지능의 특성을 탐구하고자 하였다. 이를 위해 문화 지능 개념을 소개하고 문화 지능 측정도구인 CQS의 구조와 타당도를 확인하고, 특히 성격과 문화 경험이 문화 지능과 갖는 관계를 파악함으로써 향후의 문화 지능 연구에 아이디어를 제시하고자 하였다. 재외 한국인 유학생들 143명을 대상으로 연구를 실시한 결과 CQS의 요인 구조는 문화 지능의 이론적 구조와 적절히 부합하는 것으로 확인되었으며 또한 문화 진입 스트레스, 학업스트레스 등 유학생의 일반적 적응 지표와도 관계를 갖는 것으로 나타나 CQS가 문화지능을 측정하는 타당한 도구임을 확인하였다. 다음으로 성격과 문화 경험이 CQS로 측정되는 문화 지능 점수와 어떤 관계를 갖는지 확인해보았으며, 그 결과 CQS 문화 지능이 문화적 경험보다는 성격과 더 큰 관련이 있는 것으로 나타났다. 마지막으로 본 연구의 결과와 관련된 연구적 함의와 미래 연구를 위한 제안 사항을 논하였다.
