At a time when interest in horses and popularization are taking the initiative and preemptive support of the administration, the public's interest in leisure horseback riding is also increasing nationwide.
However, so far, cases and studies of leisure horseback riding have been limited to youth and rehabilitation treatment and university horseback riding, which can foster leaders, has been alienated.
From the standpoint of overcoming these limitations, leisure horseback riding education should be provided in university education by considering university talents as active being with abundant potential in expanding the base of horseback riding and fostering leaders.
The purpose of this study is to explore the current status of leisure horseback riding education programs, problems and requirements felt from the perspective of education consumers, explore horseback riding literacy that university talents can acquire through liberal arts education and leisure horseback riding programs.
To achieve this research purpose, this study used a narrative qualitative method. Participants in the study were five who participated in physical education classes in liberal arts education and two experienced horseback riding guidance and supervised horseback riding.
Data collection considered of pre-interview questionnaires, distribution collection, interview preparation, preliminary interviews, in-depth interviews and data analysis and the collected data were analyzed through inductive category analysis. In other to increase the integrity of the data, a multilateral verification method and peer verification were performed.
The research results are as follows.
First, the perception of physical education in university education is that physical education has shrunk a lot in existing liberal arts education programs, and it is not enough to meet the needs of educational consumers. It was insufficient to reflect the needs of educational consumers, such as lack of diversity in programs and bias toward theory.
Second, the applicability of leisure horseback riding as a liberal arts education is quite favorable to the maintenance of new and mental and social health through horseback riding, fostering horseback riding literacy and one's own happy life.
According to the results of these studies, the liberal arts education program viewed from the perspective of the applicability and value of leisure horseback riding as a university education requires not only horseback riding skills but also horse-raport formation, knowledge and mental education.
The following suggestions can be made through this study.
First, follow-up research is needed to see how the equestrian literacy acquired by participating in the liberal arts education horseback riding program of university talents can be well carried out in daily life and how it is possible.
Second, It is necessary to actively reflect the requirements of liberal arts education consumers in other to ensure that university education for the development of horseback riding literacy is carried out in a substantial manner.
