Tin wastes of solders and slag scraps were subject to physical and chemical pretreatment processes. Separation of the valuable metallic tin components was performed by dry ball-milling for 12 hours, which enabled efficient separation of metallic tin for recycling. On the other hand, tin wastes were dissolved in the mixture of HNO3 and H2O2 and the sediment was identified as SnO2, which was reduced to metallic tin for recycling. Overall efficiency of the pretreatment processes was evaluated to suit proper tin wastes scraps.
