This study verified whether reading materials were profit for learning to reading in reading difficulty with second semester Korean language textbooks from grade 3 to grade 6. I accessed this question with two tasks : one is telling main-ideas and details, and the other is performing given learning goals. And I evaluated the materials with 5 criterions : easy level, profit level(a little easy), profit level, difficult level, and very difficult level. The result of this study showed that about 80% of materials were placed in profit level(about 30% of ‘a little easy profit level’ materials and over 50% of ‘profit level` materials). So it seemed that almost reading materials were optimal in reading difficulty. But reading materials for 4th grade students had large deviation, we were able to know that they were less profit than other grades`. In tasks of `telling main-ideas and details`, 11.4% of materials were placed in `easy` level, and only 1.4% of materials were placed in `difficult` level. And, in tasks of `performing given learning goals`, 10% of materials were placed in `easy` level, and 12.8% of materials were placed in `difficult` and `very difficult` level. So, it seemed that reading materials have slight inclination to `ease`, when we regarded `a little easy profit level` to a `easy` level. This results were closer to students` reponses than teachers` or Korean language education experts` ones compared with preceding study. We could use this result for developing reading materials ahead.
