The purpose of this study was to examine violence in music video in terms of gender stereo types and occupational roles. A representative sample of music video contents from 2004 to 2013 was selected in top 30 ranking of a music video service site via internet and mobile base. Basically types of violence, difference of music genre, and occupational role of characters were analyzed. Moreover, the subject and object of four types of violence were analyzed. The results reveal that the quantity of violence is not much featured, but significant gender differences emerged in subject and object role of violence. It is discussed in terms of risk that exposure to music video violence may be posing to adolescent’s learning gender stereo type.
