e-Carnivalesque로서의 온라인 공중 대화 = 바흐찐적 모형의 탐색

국문 초록 (Abstract)

온라인 공중 대화는 전자 민주주의, 사이버공동체, 크라우드 소싱 등에서 중요한 요소 혹은 절차로 자리 잡고 있다. 따라서 그것을 어떻게 바라보고 접근해야 하는가는 사이버공간에 관한 연구나 실무에 있어 매우 중요한 쟁점이 된다. 최근 인터넷이 널리 확산되면서 온라인 공중 대화를 자연스럽게 현실공간에서의 대화와 동일한 성격을 갖는 것으로 보는 경향이 나타나고 있다. 본고는 온라인 공중 대화의 고유성을 부정하고, 심지어 그것을 현실공간의 공중 대화와 동일하게 만들려는 경향에 대해 이의를 제기한다. 본고는 온라인 공중 대화와 관련된 기존의 접근 방법들을 분석하고 그에 대한 대안적 모형을 탐색한다. 러시아의 문예이론가 미하일 바흐찐의 카니발론에 기대어, 온라인 공중 대화는 해학적이며, 반(反)기득권적이고, 반(半) 사실적이며, 그리고 공동체적인 성격을 지닌 카니발리스크로 해석된다.그 이론적 모형은 2008년에 다음 아고라에서 진행된 미국산 쇠고기 수입 개방에 관련된 토론에 적용되어 현실 적합성이 검토되었다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

Public dialogue online became a critical element or process of a variety of institutions such as e-democracy, cyber-community, and crowd-sourcing. Thus, how to perceive and approach it may be an important issue in research and practice related to the Internet. There is a broad tendency to treat public dialogue online just as another version of the real-space one. This paper is an objection to the trend to negate uniqueness of public dialogue online and even to make it identical with public dialogue offline. Existing approaches to public dialogue online are reviewed and an alterative theoretical framework is proposed. Relying on the theory of Carnival elaborated by Mikhail Bakhtin, Russian literary theorist and philosopher, this paper interprets public dailogue online as Carnivalesque that is of humor, of anti-establishment, half-real, and communal. In addition, the validity of the framework is examined by applying it to an example of policy debate online on open-door of the beef market to USA products.
