With the commercialization of electric vehicles (EVs) and the increasing demand for extended driving ranges, research on achieving high power density in power conversion systems (PCSs) has been actively conducted. The development of wide bandgap (WBG) devices has enabled higher switching frequency in PCS, thereby reducing the volume of passive components and facilitating high power density designs. However, these fast switchings induce higher dv/dt and di/dt, generating significant switching noise that couples into the control components. This results in degraded power factor correction (PFC) performance and increased current distortion.
This thesis proposes a robust feedforward control strategy with enhanced noise immunity to mitigate controller instability and current distortion caused by high-frequency switching noise in PFC converters. The proposed strategy replaces conventional feedforward components, which are susceptible to noise, with noise-immune components derived from internal controller computations performed during the pre-charging stage. As a result, this proposed strategy ensures stable control performance and maintains a current total harmonic distortion (THD) below 5%, even under high-frequency switching and low inductance conditions. The effectiveness of the proposed strategy is validated through simulations and experiments conducted on an 11-kW interleaved totem-pole PFC hardware prototype.
