Philosophies of education help to guide the development of mission statements and selection of goals and objectives. Supervisors and teachers must be aware that a philosophical view determines what happens instructionally in curriculum development.
The step in the curriculum development process includes planning, implementing, and assessing. Philosophies, goals, standards, objectives, and evaluation give structure to the process of curriculum development.
Traditionally, the curriculum development in Korea has been made in centralized way so that local school districts and schools can’t actively play the roles in curriculum decision-making.
The quality of Korea education depends largely on the effectiveness of educational leaders to be able to respond to diverse groups as they continuousely work to improve schools. The centralized educational system should delegate curriculum development responsibilities to local school districts. Local school districts have to provides resources and technical support and i.s responsible to detailes as the policies and procedures, norm and sanctions, which reflects the social needs and people’s wants.
