초기 문해력 측정을 위한 2학년용 검사 도구 개발 = Development of Standardized Test Tools for 2^nd Graders’ Early Literacy

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

This study aims at developing standardized test tools to assess second graders' early literacy by applying Korean children's features in the development of early literacy. The early literacy assessment consists of 4 subtests: syllable reading, phrase reading, reading fluency, and sentence dictation. The test was administered one on one on July and February of the next year with the same children following the same procedures. To collect data, researchers sampled about 200 students at 4 elementary schools, 2 from medium-sized cities and 2 from rural provinces. The schools were considered in the middle in terms of parents' socioeconomic status and children's academic abilities.
Mean scores significantly changed between July and February. In particular, the mean change was noticeable in reading fluency. Stanine scores were provided in the four subtests. The raw scores in each interval differed between the two points, which supports the validity of the test tools in assessing development in second graders' early literacy. The findings of this study will be useful to identify struggling readers in their 2nd year of schools and to expedite their early intervention.
