‘삼경 체험의 길’, 인문학으로서의 의의 = The “Samgyeong Experience Trail”- Its Significance as a Practice of Integrated Humanities

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구는 동국대학교 WISE캠퍼스의 ‘삼경 체험의 길’ 프로그램을 중심으로 지역 인문학의 사상적 의의를 고찰한다. 이 프로그램은 동학의 핵심 사유인 삼경(三敬)―경천(敬天), 경인(敬人), 경물(敬物)―을 주제로 하여 인간·자연·사회·사물을 아우르는 조화로운 세계관을 시민 체험을 통해 구현하고자 기획되었다. 참여자는 탐방과 걷기, 체험을 거치며 하늘을 공경하고 사람을 존중하며 만물을 아끼는 태도를 익힌다. 연구는 프로그램의 기획과 운영, 참여자의 인식 변화를 분석하여 삼경 사상이 현대 도시와 시민의 삶 속에서 어떻게 실천될 수 있는지를 탐색한다. 특히 동학의 ‘시천주(侍天主)’는 인간 내면의 존엄성과 자연·세계의 가치가 분리되지 않음을 일깨우며, 이는 삼경의 통합적 체험을 가능하게 하는 철학적 기반이 된다. ‘삼경 체험의 길’은 동학의 철학을 현대 도시문화 속 실천 가능한 가치로 구현한 통합인문학적 사례로, 인문도시 사업이 지향할 철학적 깊이와 지역 인문활동의 방향을 제시한다.

This study examines the philosophical significance of local humanities through the program “The Path of Samgyeong Experience” operated by Dongguk University WISE Campus. The program is designed around the core thought of Donghak, Samgyeong (Three Respects)—Gyeongcheon (Respect for Heaven), Gyeongin (Respect for Humanity), and Gyeongmul (Respect for Things)—and aims to realize a harmonious worldview embracing humans, nature, society, and all beings through citizens’ participatory experiences. Participants engage in exploration, walking, and experiential activities that cultivate attitudes of reverence for heaven, respect for others, and care for all living things. The study analyzes the program’s planning, operation, and participants’ changes in perception to explore how the philosophy of Samgyeong can be practiced within contemporary urban life. In particular, Donghak’s notion of Sicheonju (Serving the Lord of Heaven) emphasizes that the dignity of human beings and the value of nature and the world are inseparable, providing a philosophical foundation for the integrated experience of Samgyeong. Ultimately, The Path of Samgyeong Experience embodies Donghak’s philosophy as a practicable value within modern urban culture, presenting both the philosophical depth and the direction of local humanities that the Humanities City Project may pursue.
