The purpose of this study was to determine if the worker trait factors, demographics, work history, and disability type differenciate between rehabilitation clients who became employed and those who did not. In the statistical analysis, each of the factors was tested to determine if they differenciated between clients who became employed and who did not. Crosstabulation and Quantification Method II were used to test categorical variables and T-tests was used to test the interval variables. A discriminant analysis was also used to determine if clusters of the worker trait factors effectively differentiated between clients who became employed and those who did not. The .05 level of significance was used in testing for significance. The results of the data analysis indicated that those worker trait factors that are related to learning ability, judgement, special job requirements, work history, and skills were effective discriminators between employed and unemployed clients. Those worker trait factors that relate to physical demands and motor skills were not effective discriminators. It was also found that disability types, vocational training and education were significant factors relative to rehabilitations. However sex, age, economic status, etc. do not predict successful rehabilitations. This study has implications for researchers interested in improving vocational rehabilitation programs, administrators of vocational rehabilitation programs, and offers suggestions for improving the probability for successful employment outcomes.
