      다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

This study investigated the implementation of a literature-based approach in an EFL setting with two major goals: the language learning, and the literary experiences of Korean middle school students enrolled in a literature-based program in an English as a foreign language (EFL) setting. For this study, diverse genres of literature for children were used as materials for teaching English.
The researcher focused on the connection between theory and practice by presenting processes and methods employed and recording students' experiences in terms of learners' language learning and literary experiences. Data collection consisted of interviews, students' writing in and outside of the classroom, a survey, the classroom teacher's field notes, and other classroom documents. Data were analyzed in light of the Qualitative research method.
The author concluded that literature provided students new ways for learning a foreign language and gaining lived-through experiences from the texts they read.
