      다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

      The drinking water facilities are the most essential things for everyday life and social activities. Even temporary problem in drinking water supply may cause chaos since it forms important infra-structure for processing water in the city.
      The most primary function of drinking water is to supply safe water for the inhabitants in demand. Currently, the quality of surface and source water became worse in any industrialized area such as Kyonggi-Province. Therefore the role of drinking water treatment technology is becoming more fundamental and important. Since the drinking water system is so basic for people's life and health, most water related professionals have conservative tendency in implication and adaptation of new technology resulting in delayed progresses. The demands from the consumer and government however can not wait and old technology is not enough to match water pollution problems which are getting more serious.
      The objectives of this paper are two folds: 1) to introduce various examples of new water treatment technology from the successful operation cases in Japan and USA, 2) to overview applicable aspects of principle and practice with respect to better management of water treatment facilities in Kyonggi-Province.
