일본 그린투어리즘의 전개과정에 관한 연구 = A Study on the Developing process of Green Tourism in Japan

The development or tourism in Japan has been progressed mainly by the government or large enterprises, centering on large scale development. It can be said that the reflection on this kind of large scale development, which does not discuss with local residents nor consider regional nature and environments, is the background for Green Tourism`s emerging. This study intends to examine the development of Green Tourism in Japan, of which the cultural and economical environments are similar to those of Korea, exactly understand its actual conditions, and there by contribute to the introduction and implementation of Green Tourism in Korea. Especially, it is the objective of this study that we grope for the development direction of Green Tourism in the future and consider it. One of the characteristics of Japan`s tourism development for promoting local area and economy is the promotion of Green Tourism by local combination. The development of Green Tourism, which is not the large scale tourism development but the one suitable for local characteristics, can get the following benefits. 1) increase local resident` income 2) preservation of environments 3) preservation and development of local culture 4) formation of local resident` sense of solidarity It is judged that future direction to promote Green Tourism should be the one toward local residents` consent and their active participation, and it may influence the activation of Green Tourism.
