A Two dimensional lumped mass model of the DOT-SID dummy was developed and validated by means of pendulum type tests at various impact speeds. The present model demonstrates in a good agreement with test especially at higher speeds. The mathematical 2D dummy consisted with 5 body parts; upper rib, upper spine, lower spine and pelvis. The model has been developed to use to evaluate the potential injury reducing benefits of padding and side airbags.
