    This survey deals with the plan site plan of houses that belong to upper class around north-east area of Kyungbuk province which have not been surveyed and studied up until present.
    The characteristics of the houses are as followes :
    (1) In plan type, scattered type and specially transformed type of the houses do not exist. Most of the houses belong to complete type with Sarang-chae (unit mainly for masters) attached, a few houses belong to complete □ type.
    (2) The column spacings mainly used were about 8-9 Chucks (1 Chuck is equal to 30.3cm)
    (3) The plan of dwelling units mainly for female (An-chae) in this area is mostly similar with the plan of Seoul type of commoner`s houses.
    (4) In terms of plan and space formation characteristics, two houses out of 14 houses close to upper class` houses yet showing the feature of commoner`s houses are observed, which could be understood as a reasonable clue in studying the relationships between upper class` and commoner`s houses.
