비행청소년의 소년원 체험에 관한 질적 연구 = A Qualitative Study on Juvenile Delinquents` Experiences in Juvenile Training School

Generally, juvenile delinquent is the one of the most serious social problems in this society. Because of the seriousness, diverse approaches are necessary to rehabilitate the juvenile delinquents. In this context, the Bureau of Social Protection and Rehabilitation in the Ministry of Justice has carried out the revolution of general affairs since 1999. However, it has been revealed that the percentage of repeated delinquency is increased constantly. A resent research on juvenile delinquent conducted that one of the most important reasons was an unreasonable coping with the juveniles in Juvenile Training School. It is important whether the juveniles are reasonably experienced or not when they are in custody. In relation to these reasons, this qualitative study has been focused on experiences of juvenile delinquents` imprisonment in Juvenile Training School. In particular, this study has been deeply conducted to examine the substance of their experiences which importantly influenced on the repeated delinquency. The results of the study are as follows, the core meanings of the juveniles` experiences are `being under stress`, `reconsidering`, `contenting`, `adapting subculture`, `obeying`, `seeking device`, `desiring society`, and `planing the future`. Finally, the experiences of those juveniles is revealed that the imprisoned juveniles had made their lives obeying the given cirumstances and receiving the obligation of delinquency with vague craving for social life.
