부모의 방임과 학대가 청소년 우울에 미치는 영향에서 친구소외와 휴대폰 의존의 매개효과 = The Effects of Parental Neglect and Abuse on Adolescent’s Depression Mediated by Peer-Alienation and Cell-phone Dependency

This study first looks into the mediating effects of peer alienation and mobile phone addiction in connection with how parental abuse and neglect influence adolescent depression; it then discusses ideas for how to intervene in order to address adolescent depression. In order to achieve the research goal, the study used data gained from the Korean Children and Youth Panel Survey, which was conducted for three years on first-year middle school students. It then analyzed a total of 2,259 research targets through a structural equation model. Findings of the research revealed that both parental abuse and neglect have immediate effects on adolescent depression, and that parental neglect affects depression more greatly than abuse does. In terms of the influence of parental neglect and abuse on depression, the study confirmed that peer alienation and mobile phone addiction both have partial mediating effects. Regarding channels through which parental neglect and abuse affect adolescent depression, the study found that they mediate peer alienation and mobile phone addiction in that order; also, the indirect influence of parental abuse on depression appeared to be more severe than that of parental neglect. Focusing on these research results, the study offers social welfare intervention strategies and suggestions to address adolescent depression in the perspective of children’s rights.

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구는 부모의 방임과 학대가 청소년의 우울에 미치는 영향에서 친구 소외와 휴대폰 의존이 매개효과를 갖는지를 분석하여 청소년 우울을 위한 개입방향을 모색하는 것이 목적이다. 이를 위해 한국청소년정책연구원에서 실시한 한국아동・청소년패널조사 중1패널 3차년도 자료를 활용하여 총 2,351명을 대상으로 구조방정식모형을 통해 분석하였다. 연구결과, 부모의 방임과 학대는 청소년 우울에 직접적인 영향을 미쳤으며, 부모의 방임이 학대보다 우울에 더 크게 영향을 미치는 것으로 확인되었다. 부모의 방임과 학대가 우울에 미치는 영향에서 친구소외와 휴대폰 의존은 모두 부분적으로 매개효과를 지니는 것으로 나타났다. 부모의 방임과 학대가 청소년 우울에 미치는 경로에서 친구소외와 휴대폰 의존에 순차적으로 매개하는 것으로 나타났으며, 이때는 부모의 방임보다 학대가 우울에 더 크게 간접적인 영향을 미치는 것으로 밝혀졌다. 이러한 연구결과에 주목하여 아동권리의 보호 차원에서 청소년 우울에 개입하기 위한 사회복지적 개입전략과 함의를 제시하였다.
