Subject I:
The newspaper reports in Korea on the Quelling War of the Yihetuan Movement used to deliver comprehensively correct information as it is reported today other than it has taken time to collect the source of information.
When we look into the Korean’s recognition of the Quelling War of the Yihetuan Movement, we can learn that while the power group and news media perceived it a reckless ostracism by a mob of rioters against foreign powers, general public appreciated it a positive movement by the Yihetuan. We can also learn from the aspect of the Korean’s global recognition through from the Quelling War of the Yihetuan Movement that the Korean was not able to thoroughly recognize imperialism. The power group headed by Emperor Kojong was not much interested in sudden rise of market price to be under control as well as in international trends of economic changes.
Moreover, they were not well equipped with adequate level of modern diplomatic acumen and even not much paying attention to the manipulated Korean labours being abused for the war in China.
Subject II:
Upon the Quelling War of the Yihetuan Movement suddenly occurred in China. Korea had been assigned with supply of military cows, horses, food stuffs, and labours. Owing to the assignment, the amount of Korea’s foreign export in year 1900 had been increased 1.9 times by compared to the previous year and the Port Inchon had become a top ranked open port for export overwhelming the Port Pusan, since it’s open.
Bilateral trade between Korea and the Ch’ing dynasty had been decreased due to withdrawal of the Ch’ing merchant to their homeland, the trade between with Japan has been even more actively growing. The export volume of cotton product from Japanese merchant was exceeding the volume with Chinese and afterwards Japanese had continued his stronger position.
Upon the Quelling War of the Yihetuan Movement broke, tens of thousands of Chinese in northern China war place, Koreans in Manchuria, remnants, and foreign residents in China were escaping to Korea from the war and so Korea had been suffering damages with life and property from plunders by refugees and remnants. Getting worse, as Koreans being distressed by the rumors surrounding Korea, like a war between Russia and Japan and division of Korea, Korean government was developing a reinforcement policy for military expenditure.
Meanwhile, although various types of anti-imperialistic rebellion by the mass of people with similar characteristics as the Quelling War of the Yihetuan Movement took place also in Korea, all of them were in failure being suppressed by the strong action from the government.
Subject III:
When an overall severe war expected between Russia and Japan in Korea, both governments were competitively developing a series of investigations and intelligence operations for monitoring Korea through from his own intelligence agent. They are also seriously competing against each other with the matter of the Masan Creek, the Kyung Eui Railroad construction and the Yalu Forest timbering.
When both governments were not able to reach an agreement for ideas ruling Manchuria occupied by Russia during the Quelling War of the Yihetuan Movement and Korea, they at last broke the Russia-Japan War. On the other side, und
