      다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

This article aims at locating Asian literature in the world literary space by analyzing recent Korean and Japanese novels. Recent East Asian literature shares the premise of world literature, which is the exchange of ideas. It also criticizes globalization as the means through which imperial capitalism spreads and tries to find a way to liberate itself from it. This postcolonial perspective toward East Asian literature can offer a new vision to define Asian peculiarity.
It would be the first step to analyze representative models of recent Korean and Japanese novels. "Empire of Lights" by Young-ha Kim and "Southbound" by Okuda Hideo both share the ideas of world literary space. Specifically, they recognize the recent globalization as the spread of Neocapitalism and they show postcolonial perspectives through characters who are based on fundamental Communism. Their strategies against imperial capitalism are related to the terminology 'Empire' and 'Multitude' by Michael Hardt and Antonio Negri. The theory of Hardt and Negri is assented to both radical leftists and the main stream of world intellectuals. Those two Asian literary texts show the East Asian performativity against suppressive globalization, and this wuld be the location of East Asian Literature in the world literay sapce.
