The author has identified a new PHA from saline extract of Falcata Japonica Komayob native to Korea. Studies on its hemagglutination activities to human and animal red blood cell, agglutination titer, absorption test, agglutination inhibition test by saliva and sugars, heat stability test and test of agglutination activities of each agglutinin fractionated by salting out were performed.
The results could be summarized as follows:
1. Anti A₁-lectin was identified from saline extract of Falcata Japonica K. native to Korea.
2. Anti A₁-lectin in Falcata Japonica K. was absorbed by identical type of red blood cell and saliva of secretor.
3. Agglutination titer of anti A₁-lectin in Falcata Japonica K. was 8 dils with type A₁ red blood cell and 2 dils with type AB red blood cell.
4. Agglutination activity of anti A₁-lectin in Falcata Japonica K. was inhibited by N-acetylgalactosamine, L-arabinose, D-arabinose, dextrose and lactose.
5. Human sperm was not agglutinated by extract of Falcata Japonica K.
6. Identification of A₁ type specific substance from blood and humoral fluid stain was possible by elution test with anti A₁-lectin in Falcata Japonica K.
