국어학 : 『모던조선외래어사전』의 인문언어학적 연구 = A Study of The New Dictionary of Foreign Words in Modern Korean based on humanistic linguistics

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

‘The new dictionary of loanwords in modern Korean’ is humanistic contentwhich reflects society and culture of modern Korean and is also collection oflinguistic information by adopting a modern method of dictionary compilation. The purpose of this study is to analyze the macro-structure and micro-structureof the dictionary by applying Humanistic Linguistics which produces a complexknowledge through the integrated study of the humanistic science. From theviewpoint of the macro-structure of the dictionary, it mostly includes newforeign words from the written text and its arrangement is different withcontemporary dictionaries. The fact that the unit of headwords are decidedsuch as ‘ka, kya, kye’ shows the state of disorder in loanword orthography. The state of disorder in loanword orthography is revealed in parallel arrangementof headwords. Sub-headwords rarely occur. The structure of headword consistsof affixes, words, phrases, sentences and so on. The 8 parts of speech isincluded in the dictionary. The numbers attached to headwords are referredto not as homograph but as homophone. The information about the originsof loanwords is closely described in the dictionary and a lot of informationof technical terminology is also provided. The primary goal of the dictionaryis not to divided the technical areas but the dictionary shows the parts of themodern society. Compared to the previous dictionaries which describe thebasic meaning of the headword, the dictionary describes senses in the different ways and provides difficult loanwords with references. The quantitative analysis of the dictionary in the future can pave the road to the holistic view on modern words.
