The purpose of this study is aiming at understanding the behavior of broiler growers in collecting information about broiler price in Korea. In order to achieve the goals questionnaires collected from 61 broiler growers during May 1995 were analyzed. The respondents' demographic data were summarized as 45 year-old, high school graduated and 11 year-experienced broiler growers. Their average farm size was 24,125 heads with 4.1times turnover per year, and annual income was 25.4 million won(U$32,000). The main sources of the information about price were magazines(38.3%) and seminar organized by Korean Poultry Association(29.8%). Seventy seven percent(77.0%) of the respondents replied that they had information about price, which was published(44.3%) and self collected(29.5%). The respondents regarded past price and feed production amount as the main factors affecting future broiler price. The respondents pointed out that the fluctuated broiler price, unfairness in selling their products and damage by disease were the main problems to be solved in their farming.
Consequently, it would be an important task to provide a price forecasting devices using personal computers in the future.
