      Recent research studies show that mindfulness-based interventions (MBIs) for children and adolescents have a positive impact on cognitive and noncognitive functioning, which are related to improved academic performance. Although mindfulness is a burgeoning field of education, no studies elaborate the conceptual relationship between mindfulness and academic achievement in a South Korean context. The present research aims to investigate the relationship between mindfulness and academic achievement using a crosssectional design on a sample of 877 South Korean adolescents aged 12 to 19 years from five schools in two South Korean cities. All participants completed measures on mindfulness and provided their GPA as an indicator of academic achievement. Results revealed a positive correlation between mindfulness and academic achievement and provided implications for conducting further research on the positive influence mindfulness has on the academic performance of adolescents. By providing a conceptual study of mindfulness, the researcher hopes instruments can be developed and questions concerning mediating role and mechanisms of action can be investigated that will help enhance the continuation of health-promoting behaviors for Korean children and adolescents
