다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract) kakao i 다국어 번역

Since familism leads people to exclusively focus on the narrow concern of the immediate family, it is usually thought to cause indifference to the public interest and a low level of social trust. However, most of the quantitative studies based on comparative surveys have not found any significant linkage between familism and social trust. This study assumes that these nonfindings are due to invalid operationalization and measurement errors. Based on the recent studies on social trust, it is defined as trust in strangers. Familism is regarded as an opposing concept to individualism and defined with a self-sacrificial component. Even in this experimental survey, we can find systematic bias in the measurement of familism. After removing this bias, regression analysis shows a statistically significant negative effect of familism on social trust.
