Burnout is recognized as a modern illness. As burnout occurred in general specialized occupation, the pastor has been related to the burnout as well. The pastor''s wife is not the exception in burnout. In the West, the study on burnout began from the nineteen eighties, and the study has contributed to the renewal of a burnout minister and the minister who will suffer from burnout./// It is difficult to summarize the causes of burnout in a word. Burnout occurs due to the complex operation of various causes. In burnout, stress is the main cause, and there are business dimension, such as excessive business, repetitive work or workaholism. There are personal causes like human relationships, and there are environmental causes like rapidly changing age or the stagnation of the church. There are the causes according to the personality of the pastor''s wife, too. The pastor''s wife suffers from burnout because of the complex operation of mental, psychological and spiritual causes. /// If a pastor''s wife suffers from burnout, he loses the desire and goals of life and drifts away from the ministry business like the satellite leaving its orbit. Furthermore, she tries to acquire self-satisfaction with the abnormal methods, and she suffers physically from the abnormal symptoms. She feels psychologically disillusionment or defeat, and she possesses anger, a cynical way of thinking, and a negative attitude as a result. 탈진은 현대적인 질병으로 자리를 잡아가고 있다. 일반 전문직종에서 생기는 탈진과 같이 목회자의 아내도 탈진과 무관하지 않으며, 더 나아가 목회자의 아내도 예외가 아니라는 점이다. 이미 구미에서는 80년대에 들어서면서 목회자의 탈진에 대하여 관심을 갖고 연구하기 시작했으며 그 연구의 결과로 탈진에 처한 자들과 탈진에 처하게 될 이들에게 많은 도움을 주어 새로운 활로를 열어주고 있다. /// 목회자의 아내는 외적인 면에서는 목회자와 결혼한 여자이며, 내적인 면에서는 하나님께 바쳐진 한 남자를 소명을 따라 부름을 받아 목회자를 돕는 배필이다. 그는 일반적으로 ''사모''라 불린다. 목회자의 아내는 여성도들을 지도, 상담, 교제하기 위하여 영적인 면에서 구원의 확신, 소명감, 영성, 믿음과 사역에 대한 열정이 필요하고, 인격적인 면에서 진실성, 덕, 절제, 사랑, 겸손이 필요하며, 육체적인 면에서는 건강함을 유지해야 한다. 목회자의 아내는 가정에서 남편 목회자를 돕는 협력자요 동역자의 역할을 해야 하며, 자녀들을 바르게 키우는 양육자의 역할을 해야 하고, 가정 경제를 잘 꾸려가야 한다. 그는 교회에서 심방, 교육, 상담 사역을 감당하게 된다. 지역사회에 있어서는 구성원의 일원으로서 사명을 감당해야 한다. /// ''탈진''이란 용어는 초기에 사람과 연관하여 사용되지 않았으나 1970년대 말부터 사람에게 적용되기에 이르렀다. 탈진은 모든 에너지가 소진되어 육체적, 정서적, 정신적으로 지쳐 열정과 이상 그리고 목표를 상실한 상태라고 할 수 있다./// 탈진의 요인을 한 마디로 말하기 어렵다. 탈진은 한 두 가지 요인에서 기인하기보다는 여러 요인들이 복합적으로 작용하여 나
