문해발달에 관한 어머니의 신념과 가정에서의 실제 문해행동 연구: 창안적 글자쓰기와 총체적 언어접근법 중심으로 = A Study of Mothers' Beliefs regarding Literacy Development and Home Literacy Practices with Emphases on Invented Spellings and the Whole Language Approach

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

The study was designed to explore mothers' beliefs regarding children's literacy development and self-reported home literacy practices with emphases on invented spellings and the whole language approach. A total number of 340 mothers with 3-5 year-old children participated in this study recruited from Seoul and its suburban area. Mean, Standard Deviation, frequency, Spearman's r, Kendall's , and multiple regression were employed to analyse the data. The results showed that mothers' beliefs regarding invented spellings and the whole language approach are likely to be positive and are related to home literacy practices for their children at home. And their demographic characteristics such as the number of children, target child's order, mothers' education, their spouses' education, and family income were the most predicting variables in mothers' literacy beliefs.

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구의 목적은 유아기 자녀를 둔 어머니의 문해발달에 관한 신념을 창안적 글자쓰기와 총체적 언어접근을 중심으로 살펴보는데 있다. 어머니의 문해발달에 관한 신념을 알아보기 위하여 만 3세에서 만 5세 사이의 자녀가 있는 어머니에게 어린이집과 유치원을 통해 440부의 질문지를 배부하여 이 중 340부를 연구에 사용하였다. 연구결과를 통해 창안적 글자쓰기에 대한 어머니의 신념을 예측하는 사회인구학적 변인은 자녀의 수, 응답대상 자녀의 형제 순위, 어머니의 교육 수준, 어머니의 직업, 그리고 가정의 경제수준이 신념에 영향을 미치는 변인임을 알 수 있다. 총체적 언어접근에 대한 신념을 예측할 수 있는 변인은 이 중 어머니의 직업을 제외하고 자녀의 수, 응답대상 자녀의 형제 순위, 어머니의 교육 수준, 그리고 가정의 경제수준이었다. 또한, 가정에서 행하는 문해활동들은 어머니의 창안적 글자쓰기에 대한 신념 및 총체적 언어접근에 대한 신념을 중심으로 한 문해발달에 관한 신념과 대부분 유의한 상관관계를 보였고 어머니의 사회인구학적 변인과도 유의한 상관관계가 있음을 알 수 있다.
