스스로 생활할 수 없는 노인은 누가 돌보는가: 노인 돌봄 제공자 분석 = Who Care the Dependent Elderly? : Analyzing the Caregiver for Dependent Elderly

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구의 목적은 자립 생활이 어려운 노인을 돌보는 사람들의 특성을 파악하는 것이다. 본 연구에서 활용한 표본은 자립 생활이 어려운 노인을 돌보는 가족 600명이며 비확률 표집을 통해 추출하였다. 돌봄 제공자를 파악하기 위해 본 연구는 사회 지원망 분석 방법을 활용하여 14개의 돌봄 활동을 구분하였고, 각각 활동에 대해 최대 5명까지 돌봄을 제공하는 사람을 질문하였다. 본 연구의 주요 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 돌봄 제공자는 주로 배우자와 자녀를 중심으로 구성되어 있으며, 돌봄에 참여하는 사람의 수도 많지 않다. 둘째, 돌봄 활동의 종류에 따라 도움 주는 사람의 수도 차이를 보인다. 셋째, 여성이 남성보다 돌봄에 더 참여하는 것으로 나타났지만, 그 차이는 크지 않은 것으로 나타났다. 성별로 돌봄 활동은 차이를 보이는데, 여성의 경우 반복적이며, 시간을 많이 소비하고 신체적 부담이 큰 활동에 참여 비율이 높지만, 남성은 비정기적이며, 시간이 많이 들지 않는 활동에 참여 비율이 높은 것으로 나타나고 있다. 넷째, 배우자 유무에 따라 돌봄 제공 정도는 차이를 보이는데, 배우자가 있는 노인의 경우 배우자와 자녀가 돌봄 부담을 나누지만, 배우자가 없는 경우는 자녀가 돌봄을 책임지는 것으로 나타났다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

This study aimed to identify the caregiver for elderly who have difficulty in independent living. The sample for this study was 600 persons caring for dependent elderly. The sample was selected with non-probability sampling. To identify the caregiver, the study categorized 14 care activities and asked about up to five caregivers for each activity. The main findings of the study were as follows. First, caregivers were primarily composed of spouses and children, and the number of people involved in caregiving was small. Second, the number of people helping varied depending on the type of caregiving activity. Third, women were more involved in caregiving than men, but the difference was not much. Women were more likely to engage in repetitive, time-consuming, and physically demanding activities, while men were more likely to engage in occasional, less time-consuming activities. Fourth, the level of care provision differed depending on the presence or absence of a spouse. for the elderly with spouse, spouses and children share the care burden, However children are responsible for care among those without a spouse.
