The metabolic syndrome (MS), a concurrence of disturbed insulin and glucose metabolism, obesity and abdominal fat distribution, hypertension and dyslipidemia, is associated with subsequenct development of cardiovascular disease (CVD) and type 2 diabetes mellitus. Nowadays, the MS is a real epidemic not only between adults but also among adolescents. Therefore, MS is becoming an important public health problem.
In this review the definitions of the MS, continuing with clinical approach to the MS were described. In addition, we discussed exercise intervention for MS comparing foreign and Korean studies.
