『삼국유사』 「감통」의 향가 읽기: 허구적 세계의 진실 = A Reading of Hyangga(鄕歌) works of the Book of Gamtong(感通) of Samgukyusa(三國遺事)

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

The Book of Gamtong(感通) of Samgukyusa(三國遺事) consists of stories telling about Buddhist transcendental experiences such as Gameung(感應) and Shintong(神通). They understand those transcendental phenomena always happen because of Banya(般若) in Buddhism. The Hyangga(鄕歌) works of the Book of Gamtong are the manifestation of Banya, which is also called wisdom or awakening. Such kind of awakening is the decisive cause of the mysterious and miraculous events. Thus the readers can study the awakening and its implications by appreciating the Hyangga works. “Wonwangsaengga(願往生歌)” throws a question about the true meaning of emptiness. The poet discovers self-extinction in belief and faith, where he also find the possibility for his salvation. In “Hyeseongga(彗星歌)”, the poet is searching for the ways to rescue himself by realizing that the world is nothing but fiction having nothing at all in it except for illusions. And the author “Jemangmaega(祭亡妹歌)” finds the world of new possibilities beyond life and death based on the insight that the world is an illusion. The Hyangga works in the Book of Gamtong are not free from mythical or sorcerous ideas. Despite that, they overcome the mythical elements discovering salvations or transcendence inside human beings rather than the outside, which makes them very distinctive of other Hyangga works.
