로컬리티 연구의 관점에서 본 언어접촉과 지역어 변화의 한 양상 = A Study on Language Contact and an Aspect of Changes in a Local Language from the Perspective of Research on Locality

국문 초록 (Abstract)

로컬의 `역동성`을 고찰하기 위한 논의 방식의 하나는, 외부의 제도나 질서, 규범 등이 로컬에 이식되는 과정에서 나타나는 로컬의 대응방식을 살피는 것이다. 이 과정에서 로컬리티 연구는 기존의 논의틀에서 발화 위치를 이동시킴으로써 새로운 논의를 전개한다. 발화 위치를 글로벌이나 국가 같은 거시적 차원에서 미시적 차원인 로컬로 옮김으로써, 거시적 차원에서 동일화시킨 것들을 걷어내고, 그 이면에 존재하는 다양한 차이와 주름에 주목하여 이것이 동일성에 균열을 일으키고 새로운 변화를 가져올 가능성에 대해 논의해 왔다. 이 글에서는 이러한 논의틀을 언어에 적용하였다. 외부로부터 이식되는 규범으로서의 표준어와 지역어의 언어접촉상황에서 지역어의 변화 양상을 <대천일기>의 `비` 관련 어휘를 중심으로 살펴보았다. 그 과정에서 `드러난 위세`를 지닌 표준어가 `지역어`를 대체함으로써 지역어가 소멸되는 예, 표준어를 지역어의 언어원리에 맞추어 변형시키는 예, 그리고 표준어와의 경쟁에서 지역어가 우위를 차지하고 현재까지 유지되는 예 등의 변화의 모습이 확인되었다. 이를 통해 표준어로의 변화라는 일반적인 방향성이 존재한다 하더라도, `차이`를 기반으로 `숨겨진 위세`를 지닌 지역어는 다양한 방식으로 외부로부터의 힘에 대응함으로써, 로컬리티의 `역동성`을 보여주고 있음을 확인하였다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

One of the methods of discussion to examine the dynamics of local is by exploring its responding ways in the process of external institutions, orders. or norms being transplanted into it. In this process, the research on locality develops a new discussion by removing the place of speech from the existing frame of discussion. It skims off the things that have become `one` on the macroscopic dimension and pays attention to the various differences and creases existing behind them by removing the place of speech from the macroscopic (i.e., global or national) dimension to the microscopic (i.e., local) dimension In addition, it discusses the possibility that this will bring fracture and new changes to the oneness. This study applied this frame of discussion to the language and examined the features of changes in the local language under the situation where a language contact has arisen between the local language and the standard language which is being transplanted from the outside as a norm. In this process, this study identified the following cases: the one where the local language has disappeared after the standard language with overt prestige displaced it; the one where the standard language has been modified to fit the linguistic principles of the local language; and the one where the local language has been so far kept alive by holding a dominant position in the competition with the standard language. Through this, this study confirmed that based on the regional `differences`, the local language with covert prestige, not unilaterally embraced by the transplant from the outside, has shown the `dynamics` of the local via its linguistic features by responding to it in various ways.
