당신들의 천국의 인물과 주제 양상 연구 = A Study on Characters and Theme about Your Heaven

국문 초록 (Abstract)

이 논문은 󰡔당신들의 천국󰡕의 등장인물 유형, 그 성격과 의미, 공간과 깊은 관계를 맺는 주제 양상을 자세히 분석하였다.
2장에서는 리몬 케넌의 성격 이론을 바탕으로 외양, 행동, 말씨 등 여러모로 각 인물들의 성격을 어떻게 드러내는지를 분석하였다. 이런 전형적인 인물은 어떤 특성을 반영하고 어떤 특별한 의미를 부여해주는지를 밝혔다.
첫째는 실천적 지도자인 조백헌은, 완벽한 지도자 특징을 갖추고 이런 지도자가 치자·피치자의 대립관계를 해소시키고자
하는 주제를 드러낸다. 둘째는 모순적 현실주의자인 황희백은, 자유와 사랑을 염원하지만 섬에서의 안녕을 기원하면서 그의 풍부한 인생 경험으로 치자로 하여금 새로운 것을 깨닫게 한다. 셋째는 비판적 지식인인 이상욱은, 트라우마로 “감시의 눈”을 지키고 모든 것을 ‘자유’로 행하려 하고 섬의 문제 해결에 한계를 제시하지만 그의 생각이 피치자의 의사를 대변해서 한 사회의 선구적 지식인의 입장을 나타내는 것으로 볼 수 있다. 넷째는 부수적인 인물들이다. 윤해원·서미연은 굳이 섬에 돌아오지 않아도 되지만 섬에 찾아와 인생을 걸고 섬을 위해 적극적으로 봉사한다. 그들의 결합은 천국 실현의 가능성을 암시하지만, 이에 대해 독자가 생각할 수 있는 여지를 남긴다. 기자 이정태는, 신문 기사의 정확성을 확인하기 위해 외부인으로서의 중립적 태도로 천국 건설을 지켜보고 보도한다.
3장에서는 현실 공간이 어떻게 치자와 피치자의 대립적 관계를 형성하는지를 탐구했다. 이와 더불어 작중 인물들의 천국 이념을 탐색했다.
당위성을 앞세우는 조백헌은, 피치자를 교화의 대상으로만 판단하여 계몽주의 사상의 한계를 벗어나지 못해서 계몽적 천국에 머무르고 있다. 사랑을 바탕으로 섬을 변화시킬 수 있는 가능성을 제시하는 황희백은, 사랑은 관념적·포괄적이어서 그 실현할 어려움이 클 뿐 아니라 자칫 독재정치에 치우칠 위험이 있기 때문에 관념적 천국이 될 뿐이다. 자유만이 천국이라고 생각하는 이상욱은, 치자의 절대적 자유를 추구하는 길이라고 생각하고 섬을 발전시킬 수 있는 방책을 마련하지 못한 채 피상적 천국만을 말하고 있다. 그래서 “우리들의 천국”을 만드는 과정에서 “당신들의 천국”이 될 뿐이었다.
소설에서 건강인과 환자 사이의 우열 관계를 보여 주면서 사회 구성원은 함께 협력한다면 평등한 인간관계를 만들 수 있는 가능성을 제시한다. 그리고 꿈같은 이상적인 천국을 존재하지 않지만 더 좋은 사회를 만들 수 있도록 노력한 인간이 될 수 있다는 결론도 도출하였다.

<Abstract>

This paper Your Heaven analyzed types of characters, meaning, and theme, which is closely related to space.
In chapter 2, we analyzed how to show the characters from appearance, action, and words with the theory of Shlomith Rimmon-Kenan. In addition, described what kinds of characteristics and special meanings from typical characters.
Firstly, practice leader Jo Baek-heon, has perfect leader features, developed himself in resolving the relationship of rulers and ruleds. Contradictory realist Hwang Hui-Baek, although wishing freedom and love, but only prays the peaceful of the island. With his abundant appearances, made the rulers to achieve a new recognition. Critical intellectual Lee Sang-wook, always has vigilance and considered all the things as freedom because of childhood trauma. Proposed the limitations of resolving island problems. His mind represented the whishes of the rulers. From here, it’s clearly to see the standpoints of intellectuals. The fourth part is about ancillary characters. Yun Hae-won and Seo Mi-yeon developed themselves on island. Their combination indicated the possibility of heaven and also provided the space of consideration to the readers. Journalist Lee Jeong-tae, in order to make sure the veracity of the report. He, as a outsider with a neutral attitude to observe the construction of heaven.
In chapter 3, this paper showed how to form the relationship of rulers and ruled in the island, together with that, explored the heaven ideas of characters.
Under the thought of obligation, he makes ruled as civilizing objects but didn’t break the limitation of enlightenment thought, so just stayed in enlighted heaven. Hwang Hui-Baek, presented the possibility about island changes with the basic of love. But the love is conceptual and general, so has lots of difficulties during the process of achievement, has the possibility to fall back to authoritarian politics. Therefore, the heaven just in concept. Lee Sang-wook, who thinks freedom is heaven, the way of heaven is freedom, but didn’t give the plans to achieve heaven, so just in superficial heaven. Therefore, during the construction of paradise, “Our’s Heaven” can just be “Your’s Heaven”.
This novel showed the differential treatment of health and patients, if all the people work together, it is possible to build a equal relationship. Therefore, it concluded that although there’s no ideal paradise, but in order to build a better society people will also work hard and become better.
