何首烏가 高脂血症흰쥐의 혈중지질 및 효소활성에 미치는 영향 = The Effects of Polygoni multiflori Radix and Cynanachi wilfordii Radix on the Blood Lipids and Enzymes of Hypercholesterolic Rats

The effects of four oriental drugs, Polygoni multiflori Radix, P. multiflori Radix Prep, Cynanchi wilfordii Radix and C. wilfordii Radix Prep., on the contents of blood lipid and the enzymes of hypercholesterolic rats were analyzed. The results were :
1. The drugs showed the decreasing effects of total cholesterol and LDL-cholesterol in the blood of hypercholesterolic rats, and the effect of Cynanchi wilfordii Radix was more remarkable than those of the others.
2. P. multiflori Radix Prep. decreased the creatinine contents in blood of the hypercholesterolic rats and Polygoni multiflori Radix and Cyanachi wilfordii Radix increased the activity of ACE, P. multiflori Radix Prep., and C. wilfordii Radix Prep. decreased the activity of ACE. These results suggested that the drugs had some effects on the muscle contraction and the functions of kidney, but the relationships between the effects and the decrease of blood-lipids was unclear.
3. Polygoni multiflori Radix, P. multiflori Radix Prep. in vitro had the inhibitory effects on lipase, creatin kinase, and an activating effect on ACE. And also, Cynanchi wilfordii Radix and C. wilfordii Radix Prep. had an inhibitory effects on lactate dehydrogenase and ACE. These results suggested possibilities of the drugs' effects on the enzymes regulating the lipid metabolism.
