문화 번역과 로컬리티 연구 -타자에 대한 번역가의 과제를 중심으로- = Cultural Translation and Locality Studies - on the Task of the Translator about the Other -

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

This study examines the discussions of multiculturalism which touchethics, morality, and education which have a tendency of de-politicization. Rancière argued that the ethical turn has caused negative influence onvarious areas including philosophy, argument, art, and practice in time. According to him, the ethical turn has strengthened ‘the era of consensus,’and thus the political space has been contracted accordingly. This‘consensus’ finally results in an ‘ethical community or a community withoutpolitics' by getting rid of dissensus. The overturn of the hierarchy andconsensus as a result of esthetic revolution makes a new divisional systemembodied, unseen things seen, and unheard voice heard. The estheticrevolution is related to the task of cultural translator of others. Translationis an act of writing the heterogeneity and it adds difference by amplifyingor reforming certain elements of the original text. Cultural translation revealsforeignness and heterogeneity of both the original and target cultures. Thetask of cultural translators seems to correspond to that of local culturaltranslators. They may seek creating new meanings in the process of localsubversive negotiation, toward dominant system of Nation-State, canon oforiginal culture, and effects of globalization. In the face of the differencebetween the history of dominance and that of a locality, local culturaltranslators may encounter a number of heterogeneous elements out of thechannel of homogeneity, opening opportunities of reflection and discovery.

국문 초록 (Abstract)

문화들 간의 횡단과 혼종이 일상화 된 전지구화, 전지구적 자본주의는 모든 이질성과 다양성을 재현의 네트워크로 포섭하는 것처럼 가장한다. 예컨대 로컬의 문화를 국민국가의 통합적 전략(로컬의 국민국가화)으로 포섭하든 혹은 글로벌적 전략(로컬의 전지구화)으로 포섭하든, 이 전략들은 모두 로컬 문화를 동질화시키고로컬리티라는 문화적 차이를 합의를 통해 시공간적으로 분할하려는 목표를 가진다. 하지만 국민국가/글로벌 자본주의의 의미론의궤도를 벗어나 합의와 일치의 움직임에 맞서 기존의 미학적 체제를 변화시키고 ‘불일치로서의 로컬리티’를 상상할 수 있다면, 새로운 감각의 분할을 통해 타자화 된 것들을 가시화 하고, 로컬리티의 몫으로 할당된 시공간을 재편함으로써 로컬 문화를 새롭게 해석해 나갈 수 있을 것이다. 이 글은 치안/정치, 합의/불일치에 관한 랑시에르의 논의를 바탕으로 현재 우리 삶의 여러 영역이 윤리적 전환을 모색함으로써 사회적 갈등을 은폐시키는 경향을 비판하고, 타자-로컬 문화를 어떻게 번역할 것인가의 문제에 대한 해답을 모색해 본다
