미국의 이주 아동,청소년 적응 지원 프로그램 및 시사점에 관한 연구 = A Study on US Policy Service Programs for Migrant Children and Youth and their Implications for Korean Society

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

This study aimed to explore the policies and service programs for migrant children and youth in the US and further to have their implications on Korean society. I attempted to elicit better policies and programs for Korea to move toward multicultural society by understanding US cases which have been developed for the migrants from diverse ethnic, racial and cultural backgrounds for a long time. For this, I categorized migrant children and youth into children of migrant laborers, refugees, and limited English speakers. And I speculated on their situation and related policies and services provided by the US government. From this review, I suggested some implications for Korean government agencies to develop policies and service programs for migrant children and youth in Korean society. Major points were as follows: clear role division between government departments, providing services adequate for recipients`s situation, cooperation between public and private resources, easy access to information of service and program contents, system building for language acquisition and academic achievement, and practicing humanistic support.
