척도 번역 과정을 중심으로 살펴본 한국어 FACES IV의 적절성에 대한 고찰 = Consideration of the Appropriateness of Korean FACES IV focused on the Process of Translating a Scale

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구는 가족 적응력 및 결속력 평가 척도 IV(Family Adaptability and Cohesion Evaluation Scale IV: FACES IV)를 국내 장애아동 가족을 대상으로 한 연구에 적용하기 위해 척도 번역을 체계적인 절차로 수행하고, 번역된 한국어 척도가 타당성을 가진 척도인지를 살펴보는데 목적이 있다. FACES IV 번역을 위해 기존에 번역된 한국어 척도가 존재하는지에 대해 알아보았으며, FACES IV 척도개발회사인 Life Innovations를 통해 번역 허락 및 번역 유의사항을 확인하였다. 척도 번역을 위해 구성된 번역팀은 오리지널 영어버전을 한글로 번역, 번역된 한글버전을 다시 영어로 후진 번역(back-translation), 오리지널 영어버전과 후진 번역된 영어버전의 동일성을 평가하는 역할을 나누어 맡았다. FACES IV 한국어 척도의 초안을 완성한 뒤, 예비조사와 사전조사를 실시하였다. 사전조사를 위해 장애아동을 둔 부모 158명이 참여하였으며, 탐색적 요인분석과 확인적 요인분석을 통해 FACES IV 한국어 척도의 적절성을 고찰하고, 보다 타당도 있고 신뢰도 있는 척도를 구성하기 위한 방안을 제시하였다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

The purpose of the study was to construct a validated and reliable Korean FACES IV to apply on the studies of families of children with disabilities by implementing systematic translation process. Prior to translate the FACES IV, it was checked whether the translated Korean scales existed or not, and the researcher reviewed the guidelines of translation and had consent from the Life Innovations about the Korean translation. For translating the scales, the team of translation was consisted of 6 peoples. They translated the original English version to Korean, back-translated the Korean version to English. Then, they compared the original English version to back-translated English version to evaluate the consistency. After the draft of Korean FACES IV version was developed, the preliminary study and the pilot study were implemented. For the pilot study, 158 parents of children with disabilities participated for the study. Based on the results of the exploratory and confirmatory factor analyses on the scales, the ways to raise the validity of the Korean scales were suggested.
