Th?e purpose of this study was to examine the mediation effect of avoidance coping in the relations between problem solving confidence and depressive symptoms in university students. The results were based on a sample of 202 university students. Data were collected using the Problem-Solving Inventory, the Coping Strategy Indicator, and the Center for Epidemiologic Studies Depression Scale. Findings revealed that avoidance coping mediated the relations between problem solving and depressive symptoms in university students. Implications of the current results and limitations of the present study are discussed.
