김승옥 소설에 나타난 여성인식 연구: 현상학적인 장소개념을 중심으로 = The study of women's recognition that was shown in Kim Seung-Ok's novel: Revolved around the phenomenological concept of place

Some of the scholars who have studied the concept of place formulate the profound and complex side that a person have experienced as a place, they also say that the place is recognized differently for each individual depending on people's experience and the identity, namely the sense place, is granted to that place. In addition, they add that our body is an object which recognizes the space, in other words, the body belongs to the main organization which experiences the space. On the other hand, the body itself is a space, that is to say the personal space, so the human body itself is seen as part of the space that surrounds us.
Through the analysis from Kim Seung-Ok's short stories : <Journey to Mujin>, <Night Travel> and <Moonlight of Seoul Act 0>, I examined with the concept of place how women were recognized in the novelettes. In the three literatures, each woman was expressed as a 'life refuge', 'infested place' and as the 'eternal resting place' which man lust for, and this is the recognition for women of the overall society of that period, which is beyond Kim Seung-Ok's personal thought.
The novels that the general public reads do not largely deviate from the historical facts. The stories of the novels described this way become the new truth and reality and influence the consciousness of the public readers. Therefore, the novel describing women's recognition, depicted by the man who is the subject, with the woman as the other and not as the subject, must continuously be subject of the debate in the future.

국문 초록 (Abstract)

장소개념을 연구한 몇몇 학자들은 인간이 경험하는 심오하고도 복잡한 측면을 장소라고 표현하고 있으며, 인간의 경험에 따라 장소는 개개인 마다 다르게 인식되며 그 장소에 정체성, 즉 장소감이 부여된다고 말한다. 또한 우리의 몸을 공간을 인식하는 도구로 보고, 몸을 공간을 체험하는 주체의 조직에 속한다고 말한다. 다른 한편으로 몸은 그 자체로 공간, 즉 개인 공간이기 때문에 인간의 몸 자체가 우리를 둘러싼 공간의 일부로 보았다.
김승옥의 단편 소설 『무진기행』, 『야행 夜行』, 『서울의 달빛 0장』의 분석을 통해 작품 속에서 여성이 어떻게 인식되고 있는지를 장소개념을 통해 살펴보았다. 세 작품에서는 각각 여성이 ‘삶의 도피처’와 ‘오염된 장소’ 그리고 남성이 갈망하는 ‘영원한 안식처’로 표현되고 있는데, 이는 작가 김승옥의 개인적인 생각을 넘어 그 시대 사회의 전반적인 여성에 대한 인식이라고 할 수 있다. 대중에게 읽히는 소설 작품은 역사적 사실을 크게 벗어나지 않는다. 이렇게 그려진 소설 속 이야기들은 새로운 실제가 되고 현실이 되어 독자 대중들의 의식에 영향을 미친다. 그래서 여성을 주체가 아닌 타자로, 주체인 남성에 의해 그려진 여성에 대한 인식을 그리고 있는 작품은 앞으로도 계속적으로 논의의 대상이 되어야 할 것이다.
