대전·충청지역의 지역거버넌스를 위한 역사적·문화적·사회적 자원에 대한 기초조사 연구 - 지역 정체성 기반과 사회자본의 실태를 중심으로 -

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구는 대전·충청지역을 대상으로 그 지역 주민들의 다양한 삶의 과정 및 양태 속에 녹아 있거나 스며들어 있는 지역공동체적 특성들을 지역정체성의 차원에서 발굴·복원하고, 나아가 그 기초적인 자료조사의 성과물을 사회자본의 관점 아래 새롭게 조명해봄으로써 궁극적으로는 지역발전을 위한 튼튼한 토대를 마련하고 겸하여 지역발전의 새로운 방향 및 모델을 제시하고자 하는 데 그 목적을 두었다. 다시 말해, 지방색이나 지역성 등 다소 퇴영적, 부정적으로 인식되어왔던 지역 혹은 지역주민들의 독특한 성향들을 전향적이고 긍정적으로 바라보고 거기에 적극적인 의미를 부여함으로써 지역발전의 미래지향적 대안을 마련하는 데 본 연구의 목적이 있는 것이다.
세계화와 지방화, 그리고 민주화의 진행은 현대를 일컬어 지방자치 시대 혹은 지방화 시대라고 하는 새로운 시대적 인식을 이끌어냈다. 지방이나 지역의 문제는 그곳 주민들의 절대적인 현안인 동시에 국가의 정책기조나 국정운영의 최우선적인 고려사항으로 자리잡아가고 있다. 이러한 달라진 환경 속에서 지역의 문화적·역사적·사회적 유산이나 실태, 사정들은 그 자체가 지역성인 동시에 지역성을 담보하고 있는 그 지역만의 독점적인 자원인 것이다. 그것들을 본 연구에서는 사회자본의 결정적인 토대이자 바탕으로 인식하여 그 실체적 면모들을 파헤쳐 찾아 모으고 상호간 의미의 연계를 추구함으로써 하나의 심대한 지역정체성이 부상하는 전 과정을 설득력있게 제시하고자 한 것이다. 그러한 작업의 결과물은 향후 지역연구나 정책수립을 위한 아주 좋은 자료가 될 수 있을 것이며, 나아가 교육자료나 생활정보 등 현장에서의 실제적인 기능도 수행할 수 있을 것으로 기대된다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

This study has intended to delve into the properties of local communities, with focus on local identity, which have been underlying the diverse processes and forms of life of local residents in Daejeon and Choongcheong Province. This study has also intended to take a new look at the basic works in terms of social capital, thus ultimately aiming at providing the firm foundation, and suggesting new directions and models, for the local development.
The trends towards globalization, localization, and democratization have led to the new belief that the contemporary age is that of local autonomy or localization. Local problems have increasingly become urgent pending issues on the part of the residents, and top-priority policy agenda on the part of the state. In such new circumstances, local cultural, historical, and social heritages and legacies have remained distinctive resources in that region. Deeming them to be fundamental foundations, this study has attempted to suggest the whole processes producing the integral local identity in a convincing manner by collecting and linking the inherent meanings. Therefore the results of this study are expected to be the very valuable good data for future area studies and policy making and for local practices.
