지역사회 사회경제적 특성이 청소년의 학업성취에 미치는 영향 = The Effects of Socio-Economic Status in the Community Level on the Youth s Academic Attainment

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

This study is purposed to identify the effects of the social economic status in the community level on the youth s academic attainment by adopting multi-level modeling. For this, this study used the combined data both individual level data from the Korean Youth Penal Survey and community level data from official national statistics. The results showed that the socio-economic status of the community level had a positive influence on the youth s academic attainment. However, the strength of its effect had been disappeared when the socio-demographic variables in individual and household level had been considered. Based on the results, several policy and practical implications are suggested.

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구는 지역사회의 사회경제적 특성이 청소년의 학업성취도에 어떤 영향을 미치는지를 검증한 연구이다. 이를 위해 본 연구는 한국청소년정책연구원의 4차년도 한국청소년패널조사 자료와 통계청 등에서 추출한 시·군·구 단위 자료를 병합하여 분석 자료를 구축하였고, 다층모형(multi-level)을 활용하여 분석을 진행하였다. 독립변수인 지역사회 사회경제적 특성은 공공부조대상자수, 이혼율, 자살률, 고등교육기관수, 교원1인당 학생수 등을 요인분석을 통해 2가지 요인으로 구성하여 분석에 사용하였고, 통제변수로는 개인 가구의 인구사회학적 특성, 가족관계관련 특성, 학교 관련 특성 등을 투입하여 분석을 진행하였다.
이러한 과정을 통해 나타난 결과를 살펴보면, 지역사회 사회경제적 특성은 청소년의 학업성취도에 통계적으로 일정부분 유의미한 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났으나, 이러한 영향은 청소년의 개인 및 가구의 인구사회학적 특성을 통제한 후에는 사라지는 것으로 나타났다. 본 연구에서는 이러한 결과를 바탕으로 몇 가지 실천적, 정책적 대안을 제시하였다.
