The purpose of this study is to examine the effect of a career counseling for college students on career self-efficacy, career decision level, career preparation behavior. In order to achieve these purposes, I formed following hypotheses.
1. A experimental group, which is participated in the career counseling program will show higher degree in the scale of the career self-efficacy compared with a control group that were not participated in the career counseling program.
2. The experimental group, which is participated in the career counseling program will show higher degree in the scale of the career decision level compared with the control group that were not participated in the career counseling program.
3. The experimental group, which is participated in the career counseling program will show higher degree in the scale of the career preparation behavior compared with the control group that were not participated in the career counseling program.
To test the effect of this program on college students' career self-efficacy, career decision level, and career preparation behavior, 16 college students were selected and assigned randomly to either experimental(n=8) or control group(n=8).
The career counseling program was arranged on every Thursday for six weeks and each session took about two hours. During this period, the control group was not handled at all.
The measuring instruments used that career decision-making self-efficacy short form developed by Betz(1983), career decision scale developed by Osipow(1986), and career preparation behavior test developed by Bonghwan Kim(1997).
Before and after the counseling program, I gave the experimental group, control group the tests including those three measuring instruments. The tests were statistically processed by ANOVA method using SPSS 11.0 program. The significance level was set as p<.05. By collecting those data, I made a conclusion.
The conclusion of this study is as follows.
1. The career counseling program had a positive effect on enhancing the level of career self-efficacy.
2. The career counseling program had a positive effect on enhancing the level of career decision level.
3. The career counseling program had a positive effect on enhancing the level of career preparation behavior.
