Sewage sludge generated in the process of sewage treatment are increasing year by year and causes many problems including strengthening of various restrictive regulations and secondary contamination of the environment. But, drying of sewage sludge is an essential process of pre-treatment that can reduce the cost of conveyance owing to decrease of the volume and the weight, prevent a lot of secondary contamination of the environment including an offensive smell, leachate, etc. and increase effectiveness and cost efficiency of final treatment.
At this point, the operation of the drying machine has been difficult due to various factors such as chemical, physical, and thermal features by the property and the state though drying is a relatively simple method. Therefore, in this study, we will experiment in drying the sewage sludge by 4 ton/hr through the way of Taguchi methode to establish controlling factors of the process of drying the sewage sludge systematically and to determine the optimal conditions of the drying furnace operating for the purpose of obtaining high-efficiency of the drying machine.
