글로벌 시대와 동아시아 문화의 표상

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구는 동아시아의 오랜 역사 속에서 동아시아 문화의 표상이 어떻게 형성되어 왔는지 규명하고, 그리고 오늘의 글로벌 시대에 동아시아 문화의 표상은 어떻게 달라질 것인지를 전망하였다. 본 연구는 한중일 삼국의 문화표상을 연구대상으로 삼고, 그 대상 시기는 고대부터 20세기까지에 걸쳐 문화표상의 생성, 발전과정을 전반적으로 다루되, 특히 19~20세기 근현대시기에 비중을 두어 연구하였다. 구체적으로 정리하면 다음과 같다.
첫째, 동아시아 문화표상의 초기 모습과 이후의 변천 과정을 살펴보았다. 즉 역사가 오래된 문화표상의 경우 그러한 문화표상의 초기모습을 찾아보고, 그 표상의 변천 과정에 대해서 관찰하였다.
둘째, 근대 이후 새롭게 만들어진 문화표상에 대해서는 그것이 누구에 의해, 어떤 의도에서, 어떤 과정을 거쳐 만들어졌는지를 밝혔다.
셋째, 동아시아 문화의 표상을 연구하는 데 있어 각 나라, 각 지역간의 상호비교-상호연쇄-상호혼융의 시각에서 분석했다.
넷째, 문화표상 가운데 시각적 표상과 관념적 표상 모두를 포함하여 종합적으로 분석했다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

This study aims to analyze how cultural representations of East Asia was formed for long period of its history, and to suggest how it is going to evolve further in the period of globalization. This study predominantly deals with cultural representations of Korea, China, and Japan. In terms of the extent of period of the research, this paper analyzed representations from ancient times to the 20th century, rather focusing on modern period from 19th to 20th century. Details of the study are as below :
First, this study tries to illustrate the periodical change of cultural representation from the initial stage. More specifically, in the case of analysis on a representation with long history, this study first explored the earliest aspect of certain representation, and subsequently compared it with what represents succeeding period.
Second, with respect to the representations invented in modern period, this study also investigated how it was invented, by whom, for what purpose.
Third, this study conducted the research by the comparative methods and points of view, such as ‘comparing’, ‘consecutive reaction’, and ‘assimilation’.
Lastly, this study tries to encompass visual and ideological side of each cultural representation.
