The study was conducted to make clear the difference between maternal confidence of care activity and the gratification and the problem of the transition of maternal role in two groups, premature and full term infants' mothers.
For this purpose, the data were collected from 54 sample groups (27 for premature group and the remaining 27 for normal group), by means of questionaire during February 1, through April 10, 1990,. The data were analyzed with the use of chi-square, t-test, mann-whitney u-test, percentage, mean.
The results are summerized as follows:
1. In terms of the maternal confidence of care activity, full term group considerably stood out compared to that premature group (p=. 006)
2. In terms of the problem of the transition of maternal role, premature group considerably stood out compared to that full term group. (p=. 012)
3. In terms of the gratification, through full term group showed somewhat higher results, there was not a significant difference between two groups.
