The purpose of this study was to investigate the differences in swing time by section by analyzing forehand stroke of tennis and to help learners for efficient motions.
The subjects of the study were 10 woman college students, consisting of 5 players and 5 nonplayers.
Their conducts of forehand and backhand stroke motions were videotaped in 60 frame/second by 2 video cameras and each 10 of successful conducts were analyzed.
The factors were backswing timing, backswing time, forward swing time and whole swing time.
The data were analyzed by SPSS(Statistical Package Social Science).
The results of the study were as follows:
1. In backswing timing, there were significant differences in statistics (p<.05) between 2 groups (0.198±0.102 for player group, 0.728±0.196 for nonplayer group). Player group was remarkably faster than nonplayer group.
2. In backswing time, there were no significant differences in statistics between 2 groups (0.788±0.098 for player group, 0.8.30±0.117 for nonplayer group). Player group was a little faster than nonplayer group.
3. In forward swing time, there were significant differences in statistics (p<.05) between 2 groups (0.874±0.180 for player group, 0.368±0.122 for nonplayer group). Nonplayer group was remarkably faster than player group.
4. In whole swing time, there were significant differences in statistics (p<.05) between 2 groups (1.872±0.110 for player group, 1.925±0.104 for nonplayer group). Player group was a little faster than nonplayer group.
